Ashlee is in Africa for the next few months. This past month see has seen 19 people come to know the Lord. Here is a video her teammate Ken made, showing the so of the slums they have been working in and around.

Romania Update!

The sound of the train and the memory of my first train ride will never be forgotten. My team and I loaded a very crowded train and because it was so crowded we could not get a sleeper car.

All seven of us and our packs that are as big as us squeezed into an 8 seat compartment. There was a young girl named Monica in there with us and I felt so sorry for her because we were so crowded with all of us and our stuff. We had 12 hour trip ahead of us through the night. This might not have been so bad if we had not been up all day and traveling already. We had a 3 hour bus ride and 3 ½ hour plane ride earlier that day. We did not get much sleep but it was a good experience for us all. The main thing is that we arrived safely. When we arrived in Arad, Romania and Scott and Spencer who are from the states picked us up and took us to where we would be staying. Scott and his family have been here almost 4 years and Spencer and his family have been here 6 months or so. The house we are staying in is a group house which houses kids from the ages of birth to 18 years old. We will be here for the month doing different types of ministry. We have painted and spent time with the kids so far and next week we will be doing construction, painting, organizing, and whatever else is needed on their other property.

We have really enjoyed getting to know the kids and spend some time with them either in groups or one on one. Yesterday we actually got to go to the football (soccer) field and hang out. We played games, arm wrestled, tossed the ball around, Aaron (squad leader) Don, and Anthony started a football (soccer) game up with the older boys. I have always loved kids and teenagers and being here is such a blessing. I really hope to just let these kids know their heavenly father will never leave them or hurt them. I think being here was really good because the kids know English so we are able to communicate with them and they are able to teach us to speak Romanian. I have learned several words and phrases so that has been lots of fun. The kids really love teaching us too. Yesterday Brandy and I decided to get a couple of the girls and cook brownies. We had a blast and the girls felt so special because they had to read the directions to us because they didn't have any English on the box. I have also spent time upstairs watching different cartoons in Romanian and some of them are ones I have watched back home in English so I know what is going on.

This month is going to be amazing and I can't wait to see and experience all the things God has in store for us. I will have lots of videos and pictures soon. Pray for God to touch Arad in a mighty way and for God to touch these kids we are staying with.

Ashlee left Friday afternoon headed to Gainsville Gerogia for Traning Camp. Please be in prayer for her and the rest of her team as they prepare for the journey God has put them on. Pray that the will of God be done in each of their lives. And that they learn more, and become closer to God than ever before. She'll be back in town Sunday the 31st.

I am a 27 year old church going, sports loving, out spoken Daddy’s girl. I was raised in southeast Arkansas and have lived in Monticello with my Mom, Dad and younger brother Josh for 22 years. I am very involved with my church family and am currently over the youth program at Immanuel Baptist Church. I have a very close group of friends that I met in church and can’t imagine living without. I have been going to school to become a respiratory therapist and umpiring girl’s softball games in my spare time. I have always been an active part of my community umpiring and coaching softball and basketball for years. I have been called by God to do missions; I have been accepted by AIM to become a World Racer…This blog is all about that journey.

Dear Family and Friends

Dear Family and Friends,

I pray this letter finds you doing well. I am really excited about sharing some awesome news about what God is doing in my life. I have applied and been accepted for The World Race which is an 11 month journey across 11 countries to share Gods love. I will be leaving on August 1 and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me and my team.

I have a huge desire to learn more about truly showing love and compassion just as Christ did. I have always had a heart for people and now I will get a chance to give and reach needs across the world. While God has opened up a door for me to develop a greater heart of compassion for His people, the exciting part is that you will be able to share in this compassion in several ways. First, you can help pray for me, my teammates, and the countries I will be traveling to. I also need prayers that my financial needs are met.

I am so thankful for this opportunity and know God will provide a way. I pray that HE can do that through you. I would be honored if you could help me financially and pray for me daily until I return home. I have to raise at least $13, 800 to go on this trip that will go directly to my personal AIM account. The money in my AIM account will cover all my expenses while I am gone. I will also need to raise money for other expenses to be able to go on this trip. If you decide you want to help financially there are several ways you can do so. I have enclosed a response card and pre-addressed envelope that will provide AIM with all the necessary information they need. Please make checks payable to Adventures in Missions. What is the World Race?

Are you living the life of your dreams? The World Race can wake you up to your destiny! Join the World Race adventure, experiencing eleven different countries in eleven months, and make the dream a reality.

Each World Race session is unique - from the individuals that participate, to the locations you'll travel, to the stories you will get to tell. It’s more than a mission trip – it’s a pilgrimage.

What is the World Race?

The World Race is an AIM-sponsored trip that involves mission teams traveling through at least 10 countries in 11 months and ministering the hope of Jesus Christ as they go. Participants are a select group ranging in age from 21-35.

Race Components:

There are several components that make up each World Race mission trip: adventure, ministry, community, and self-discovery.

1. Adventure: Teams engage in friendly competition that may involve hiking volcanoes in Guatemala, climbing the Andes in Peru, racing through the streets of Hong Kong, or bungee-jumping in South Africa.

2. Ministry: Teams join local partners to serve in their ministry. They work with orphanages, relief efforts, micro-enterprises, and church-planters.

3. Community: Individuals learn about life together, how to be the church to one another and discover authentic relationships that will last for a lifetime.

4. Self-Discovery: In our two training camps – “Ignition” and “Launch” – Racers are paired up with their coaches who will help them grow in their identity and authority as a Christ-follower throughout the year. These coaches will also regularly debrief the teams to help them process their experiences.

Race Route:

The race varies for each World Race squad. In most locations AIM has bases or established partners with which the teams work. However, in the latter half of the race year, World Race teams will also build new partnerships in new places. Some of the places a World Racer may visit are: Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Peru, South Africa, Mozambique, Swaziland, Thailand, China, Romania, India, and more.

Why do World Racers go?

The keys to the World Race are:

*World Racers abandon everything.
* World Racers depend completely on God.
* World Racers give as they go.
*World Racers live with the poor.
* World Racers build community – a deep sense of family – with one another.
